The Youth Circles program engages youth disciplined by schools or charged with criminal behaviour in honest, respectful dialogue. Peacebuilders connects them to supports, such as tutoring or counseling, helps them make amends for any wrong doing and assists them in developing social and non-violent communications skills so that they won’t reoffend. Peacebuilders:
• Runs cost-effective programs facilitated by highly skilled volunteers committed to social justice and youth empowerment.
• Intervenes so that youth do not enter the criminal justice system where the negative impact is serious and the rate of reoffending exceeds 80%
• Builds sustainable solutions at a cost of less than $5,000 per youth compared to up to $140,000 per year to fund a youth in detention
• Helps youth stay in school
• Has a 100% record of acceptance by youth court judges and saves valuable court resources
• Is recommended by judges, lawyers, probation officers and schools
